The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) welcomed the report of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) that by 2028, the country is forecasted to enter the top 20 percent of countries, assessed by the World Bank (WB) Business Ready (B-Ready) report.

BCCP, as an ARTA Champion, looks forward to this development to continue to signal to investors that the Philippines remains a strategic partner due to its strong ease of doing business initiatives despite global and domestic headwinds.

BCCP Executive Vice Chairperson Chris Nelson, in an interview, noted: “I think, first of all, in that context, I think it’s very good. We are an ARTA champion. We work very closely with Ernesto Perez, the director general of ARTA. And we are very proud of the work that we have done with ARTA, and we are pushing ahead. Obviously, what we see is a further red tape cut. That’s why it’s improving in those rankings.”

The B-Ready initiative is an international benchmarking mechanism by the WB that provides a quantitative report to most economies globally and private sector development. The key objectives of the report is to promote policy reform, provide guidance on specific policy as well as data for policy research. The project is anchored on three pillars including: Regulatory framework, public services and operational efficiency.
