Launched in late 2012 by the Prime Minister, David Cameron, the International UK Business Networks Initiative aims to transform the support available for British SMEs seeking to do business in high-growth, hard-to-access markets across the world.
The Project is a ground-breaking partnership between the British Chambers of Commerce, Department for International Trade (DIT) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to facilitate a dynamic network of British Chambers of Commerce and Business Groups in key markets across the globe. Through a programme of capacity building, lead generation and quality accreditation, the shared mission is to provide practical, business-to-business advice and opportunities to UK SMEs seeking to export into new markets – and thereby support the government’s twin ambitions to radically increase both the value of UK exports and the number of SMEs who are exporting.
In the Philippines, the UK International Business Network team works closely with DIT Manila in increasing the number of assisted UK SMEs in the pipeline and in delivering the Headstart Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS), now called, Business Support Services (BSS) for UK SMEs. We work closely with partner Chamber groups across the globe particularly the Britain in Southeast Asia (BISEA) composed of countries from the Southeast Asia region like Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar.
To fully meet the business objectives of UK SMEs, we assist by tapping our wide membership networks and by collaborating with partners and trade organisations like the ECCP EU-Philippine Business Network and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
