(As released) The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines welcomed the Philippine economic team’s forthcoming visit to London, United Kingdom.

In an interview on Monday, January 16, the British Chamber expressed hopes for the plans of the Philippine economic managers to invite UK investors to the Philippines and attract UK exporters to the Philippine market.

The delegation will be led by Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno to visit London, UK next week from January 25 to 26 for a Philippine Economic Briefing — Ambassador Laure Beaufils will be attending.

The economic team likewise remains consistent in promoting sustainable growth and economic recovery. This led to the question of Final Word segment host Rico Hizon to Nelson’s point of view on President Marcos Jr. regarding his potential visit to the UK.

“Honestly, if it was in my hands, I would very much welcome to see President Marcos [Jr.] to visit the UK,” Chris Nelson, the chamber’s executive director and trustee, said in a CNN Philippines interview.

The move will build strong ties between the UK and the Philippines, he said.

“I mean, he attended Oxford University, so he has strong ties with the UK,” Nelson added.

With passed legislation to further boost the economy, the British Chamber still awaits the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Public Service Act.

Other foreign direct investments laws are being supported that would further ease doing business, further opening up the economy, and the ratification of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership or RCEP. — As released
