THE British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP), in partnership with Shell Energy Philippines Inc. (SEPH) and The Manila Times as media partner, will host “Powering Progress: A Look into the Philippine Clean Energy Transition” on Sept. 18, 2025, as part of its Trade & Connect initiative. The event follows recent reforms allowing 100 percent foreign ownership in the renewable energy sector.

BCCP Executive Vice Chairman Chris Nelson earlier emphasized UK companies’ strong interest in Philippine infrastructure, particularly renewable energy. “We’ve already seen investments in energy from the UK side, but I think it will continue to grow if we can open the sector,” he noted.

The National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) 2020-2040 targets a 35 percent share of renewable energy in the power generation mix by 2030, rising to 50 percent by 2040. The Department of Energy’s goals include ensuring energy security, advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals, mitigating climate change, and fostering inclusive growth.

Speakers include PEZA Deputy Director General Maria Veronica Magsino, British Embassy Manila Counsellor Lloyd Cameron, SEPH President and CEO Bernd Krukenberg, and HDF Energy Business Development Director Bernard Tuanquin.

The forum will feature insights on private sector participation, financing opportunities, and regulatory reforms. Register at britcham.org.ph/events/trade-connect-clean-energy.
