IN an interview with the executive director and trustee of the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Chris Nelson shared the upcoming Chamber’s events that will reinforce UK-PH trade relations.

On June 22, the British Chamber will host its 10th World Gin Day, in partnership with Ginebra San Miguel. With various UK companies joining the event, some participating gin companies include Smeaton’s Gin, Brighton Gin, Cambridge Distillery, Chatsworth Gins, and Jensen’s Gin. There will also be a bartending competition as part of the activity.

There will be continued momentum with Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board’s (AHBD) relations from two trade missions last year to grow UK pork exports. This led to the 34 percent increase of pork exports in the Philippines.

Further, AHBD will organize A Great Yorkshire Show in July — which will be attended by local importers, Ramcar and Atkins. This Business Mission trip will include a supermarket visit, a Meet-the-buyer event, and a British meat dinner.

“It’s a reflection of how active we are as a Chamber. It is a reflection that what we’re seeing here is we want to build long-term relationships between the UK and the Philippines,” Nelson said.

Further, the British Chamber will also be hosting an event to launch the UK’s largest gaming chair company, BraZen Gaming Chairs on July 27 to 28.

This proves the Chamber’s commitment to helping UK SMEs and MSMEs to enter the Philippine market. To date, the Philippines serves as the 64th largest trading partner of the UK with 2.4 billion pounds in the UK-PH trade.
