Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) will host its 10th World Gin Day at Dusit Thani, Makati City on Thursday, June 22.
Ginebra San Miguel Incorporated (GSMI) serves as the main partner, featuring GSMI’s latest Premium Gin and 1834. The celebration will also include the 5th BCCP Bartending Competition.
A variety of UK gins will be showcased with a myriad of flavours ranging from sweet to strong — bristol method dry, rose pink, truffle, seaside-strength, lime tree, pomegranate, hibiscus, rhubarb, and elderberry gin.
Participating UK companies are Smeaton’s Gin, The Maidstone Distillery, Brighton Gin, Cambridge Distillery, House of Elrick, Chatsworth Gins, Jensen’s Gin, Spirit of Trent, The Little Gin and Rum Company, 1000 Trades Distillery, and The English Drinks Company.
Premium Scottish gins from The Gael Spirits Company Ltd. and Roehill Springs Distillery will also be showcased with the help of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce.
BCCP Executive Director/Trustee Chris Nelson shared that the event will continue the strong UK-PH trade relations by introducing new UK gins in the Philippine market.
“We are excited to host the 10th World Gin Day event on the 22nd of June at the Dusit Thani Hotel. This event brings together the best gins in the Philippines and the UK – and gives great opportunities for further interest in the gin sector,” said Nelson.
The Philippines is one of the largest consumers of gin. In fact, there is also an expected rise of 4.4% in total gin consumption during 2018-2023 in the Philippines, according to the IWSR. With this, the British Chamber remains committed to helping UK SMEs by facilitating the expansion of participating gin companies in the Philippines, recognizing it as a significant market for gin.
This year’s 10th World Gin Day is sponsored by Ayala Corporation and PMFTC Inc., the Philippine affiliate of Philip Morris International. Minor and raffle sponsors include Bluewater Resorts, Crimson Resort and Spa – Boracay, and Vivere Hotel & Resorts.
