Great British Festival 2023 Highlighted UK-PH Relations

On March 25 and 26, the Great British Festival was successfully concluded in Bonifacio High Street, BGC.

The opening ceremony was led by the ribbon cutting of Ambassador Laure Beaufils and British Chamber’s Executive Director and Trustee Chris Nelson. Afterwards, host also Carol Malasig walked through the media partners to the participating company booths.

Several participating companies are the Members of the British Chamber — Shell, PRU Life UK, HSBC, Cyber Q, One World Butchers, Monde Nissin’s Quorn, Coventry Motors: Range Rover, Rider Levett Bucknall, Yummy Organics (Berry Company & Tayto Group), Emperador (Smirnoff), Dyson, Save the Children, Nord Anglia International School, and British School Manila.

During the event, activities include Radical Sportscars F1 simulators, Bike show by Triumph Motorcycles, Bathbomb making by Lush, Shell’s ball-pong, Smirnoff’s Ring Toss, Charles Tyrwhitt Measure and Win-a-prize, The Berry Company Plinko Game, and MotherCare SpinWheel Prize.

Local band performances were inspired by British music artists like the Beatles, Harry Styles, Spice Girls and Oasis.

Bite-sized Shakespeare

On Day 2, British education and arts were highlighted through a fireside chat to Study in the UK, Shakespeare’s classics like Hamlet, and the modern take performance of Romeo and Juliet brought by Ballet Manila.

The programme ended with the Five Films of Freedom screening brought by the British Council.

Aside from innovation, culture, and arts – The Great British Festival gave emphasis to the trade relations between the Philippines and the UK.
