World Gin Day was celebrated by the Philippine-British business community hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines in partnership with Ginebra San Miguel last June 30 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.

The Gin Night introduced British premium gins which are exploring their potential to enter the local market such as Chatsworth GinHouse of ElrickForest DistilleryBolney Estate GinSilent Pool, and Shivering Mountain.

UK’s Dingley Dell, well-known for the marbling and eating quality of its pork, was served during the event. Dingley Dell was in Manila on a Meat Trade Mission organized by the British Chamber only last May. The Chamber’s three day in-person Trade Mission was one of the first Missions held in Asia Pacific since the pandemic began.

In a separate report, UK pork exports to the Philippines were up by 200% in 2021 making it 6th among sources of pork importation in the country.

Distinguished guests at the event included Richard Graham MP, UK Trade Envoy to the Philippines and UK’s Deputy Head of Mission Alistair White.

Besides the promotion of British gins, the event also hosted the 4th BCCP Bartending Competition won by Jeremie “Auie” Benisano of SawSaw / Cafe Fleur Restaurant.

The conclusion of the World Gin Day event highlighted the Chamber’s commitment to fully support the food and beverage industry, especially in preparation for the upcoming Trade Mission with Kent Council in September.
