THE Great British Festival 2023 successfully concluded at the Amphitheatre and C1 Park, BGC, Taguig.
Chris Nelson, executive director and trustee of the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines, and Ambassador Laure Beaufils launched the program with the ribbon cutting, opening remarks, and event walkthrough with host Carol Malasig.
Members from the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines also participated in the festival. They were Shell, HSBC, PRU Life UK, Cyber Q, Yummy Organics’ Berry Company / Tayto Group, Quorn, Coventry Motors’ Range Rover, Rider Levett Bucknall, Dyson and Save The Children.
In the latter part of the first day, British Council brought British music from local bands and several performances covering UK artists’ songs, such as The Beatles, Spice Girls, Oasis, Jessie J, and even Harry Styles.
Students of British School Manila showcased their song performances for the second day of the event. The festival likewise highlighted the UK arts and entertainment, alongside a Fireside Chat on Studying in the UK with guests from HSBC, InterEd, Chevening and British Council.
Moreover, Bite-Sizes Shakespeare’s performances and Ballet Manila’s urban setting inspired for Romeo and Juliet were brought to life on stage.
The festival ended after amazing performances by Kai Del Rio, followed by Clem Castro with their originals and covers of UK music. The film screening during the night wrapped up the whole event.
Festival goers enjoyed getting their event passports stamped by company booths with a chance to have prizes of GBF Merch (tote bag and shirt), giveaways from Unilever, Twinnings, The Berry Company, and Real Hand-Cooked Crisps.
The Great British Festival was aimed to strengthen United Kingdom-Philippines relations further and liberalize the market in the different industries through these companies and showcased the 77th year of diplomatic relations between both countries.
